ABOUT ABOUT

Rise From The Ashes - 38-Mile Pilgrimage - 2023

July 21-23, 2023

“Rise From the Ashes Pilgrimage” is a 38 mile, 3-day walking pilgrimage honoring the life of Fr. Gabriel Richard and embracing the Holy Spirit’s call to repentance and renewal in the Church. As we specifically pray for an increase in priestly vocations, we are inviting you to join us as a family member of Christ’s Church in Southeast Michigan. Let us come together as a Family in support of one another, one mind and one heart – may we all walk together in unity & “Rise From the Ashes”.

We will be starting at St. Mary’s, Monroe on Friday, July 21st and finishing at Ste. Anne de Detroit--the Archdiocese’s newest Basilica—on Sunday, July 23rd. Along the way we will be visiting and/or staying overnight at Catholic Churches/locations where Fr. Gabriel Richard served including St. Mary’s in Monroe, St. Mary’s in Rockwood, and St. Andre Bessette in Ecorse. Our destination, finishing at Ste. Anne, Patroness Saint of Detroit, Ste. Anne de Detroit was the parish where Gabriel Richard served as Pastor, and he is buried within the church’s side chapel.

Restrictions

Please Note:  We will be walking a pace of about 1 mile per 20-25 minutes.  This is a fairly casual pace but may be to fast for some people with restrictions, etc.  If you plan on walking, please be confident that you can maintain this pace as we need to keep the group fairly tight for safety purposes and to ensure the support cars are quickly available to the whole group (for waters, breaks, those having difficulty walking, first aide, etc.).  Thank you
